Do it Yourself Photo Wedding Invitations

by Kimberly Ripley
  • Overview

Intrigue your prospective wedding guests with beautiful photo invitations. Affordable and elegant, invite your friends and family to your nuptials by sending invitations with a photograph of you and your bride/groom-to-be. It's a personal touch, that is simple, affordable and most importantly, memorable.
Make your own photo wedding invitations for a personal touch your guests will certainly enjoy.
  • Prepare

Take a photograph of the two of you with a digital camera and scan it into your computer. You'll need a high resolution photograph to make your invitation work. If you don't have a digital camera, you can still take a good quality photograph with a 35 mm camera and scan it into your computer. If you don't have a scanner, visit a photo center and scan it there. Visit a Web site such as weddingclipart.com for do-it-yourself templates, clip art and ideas for wording your wedding invitations.

  • Content

Decide how you want to word your wedding invitations. You can issue your invitations with the names of the bride's parents, both the bride's and groom's parents, or the bride and groom themselves. For example, "Mr. and Mrs. Robert Anderson request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Karen Anderson," or, "Mr. and Mrs. Robert Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. James Hunt request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their children, Karen Anderson and Adam Hunt," or even more simply, "Karen Anderson and Adam Hunt request, etc." Once you've decided on the content of the invitation, choose where to place the photo. Place it either above the text or below it. If you want an instant dramatic effect, place your photograph on the front cover of the invitation and place the text inside the card.
  • Create

Upload your photo into the template you've chosen. Type in the wording for your wedding invitation, then proofread everything you've entered and double check the centering from left to right and top to bottom. Insert card stock into your computer printer and print one copy of the invitation you've created. Fold the card stock according to the layout of your photo and content. If you like what you see, print the number of invitations you'll need to send.
