How to Write a Resume for a Loan Processor & Closer

by Aksana Nikolai
  • Overview

Loan processor and closer jobs are an excellent opportunity to exercise your analytical and problem-solving skills while helping clients to manage various types of loans. But how can you make yourself stand out from the competition to secure one of these exciting positions? The first step should be making sure that your resume strategically highlights the experience---particularly with financial services, problem solving and customer service---that will make you an ideal candidate for a loan processor and closer position.

  • Step 1

Provide your contact information. List your full name, phone number, address, fax number and email address in a paragraph centered at the top of the page.
  • Step 2

Use bullet points to describe in reverse chronological order your education experience in a section called "Education." List each institution that you attended, along with the starting and ending date of attendance. Under each bullet point, write the name of the degree that you earned, along with any coursework relevant to loan processing work; for example, economics or accounting.
  • Step 3

Title the next section "Professional Experience." Each bullet point in this section should state the name of the company or organization in which you worked and your designation, for example "Mortgage Loan Processor." Include also your reporting line and the dates of the period during which you held the position.
  • Step 4

Provide brief descriptions, along with each work experience, of responsibilities and tasks successfully performed, for example "Stayed up to date of new loans and other financial services and products in order to best serve client's needs."
  • Step 5

List your certifications in a section called "Licenses and Certifications." Include information such as "Licensed Loan Officer in New York."
  • Step 6

Create a final section entitled "Skills." Mention your knowledge of software programs used in loan processing, for example ProSuite, Calyx or The Mortgage Office. Reference your foreign language and interpersonal skills, which can help make you a good candidate for a customer service position.
