How to Find Words to Songs
by Ashan R. Hampton

Overview
Everyone has been plagued by that tune stuck in the head that demands to be sung or that incomprehensible verse buzzing through the radio. In times past, song lyrics were printed in popular teen and music magazines. Some beneficent artists would include their lyrics in the CD liner notes--a quickly fading practice. Now finding words to popular music takes a bit more effort, but with Internet access the search is easy and fruitful. Several websites offer free song lyrics to today's top hits and yesterday's golden oldies to make it easier for users to accurately sing their favorite songs.

Step 1
In a web browser, navigate to MTV's Lyric archive at mtv.com/lyrics. As the premier music and entertainment hub for commercial artists, the lyrics often come directly from record labels and tend to be more accurate than those posted to non-industry sites.
-
Step 2
Choose song titles from the most popular searches or browse lyrics by artist name. To find specific songs, type related words or phrases into the search box.
-
Step 3
Click the song title link to reveal the song's lyric page. Complete publication information is also provided along with the song lyrics.
