Ways to Find a Mate

Overview
We can not be certain that we have more than one life to live. With this in mind, it is imperative that you live your life like it is your only chance. Finding a mate to share your life experiences with can help to enrich the days you spend on earth. In order to find a mate, you must be willing to go on a journey that will allow you to cross paths with your mate.
-
Align yourself
Although you will not be able to avoid every pitfall during your search for a mate, you can help to narrow the chances of making mistakes. There is a saying that expresses how we often look for love in the wrong places and this is often the truth. Your search for a mate needs to start with yourself. This may sound like a cliché, but what it means is you must be willing to be honest with your intentions, likes and dislikes.
After you have done this, begin to pursue your interests in life. For instance, finding a mate at the local club may yield a possible mate. However, if you like to read books, you would be better off visiting a library or book store to find someone with similar interests. Looking for a mate in areas you are interested in will yield a better match most of the time. After your initial enthusiasm wears off in a new relationship (and it will), having something in common will keep you interested. This will also give you a common bond and something to talk about.
-
Help Yourself
The process to physically find a mate is simple once you know where to look. Once you have conquered fears of searching yourself, it should be easier to take a step out and look for interests. Public display is the only way you find a mate. Unless some miracle happens, no one is going to knock on your door with the perfect mate. Nature even shows us with animals, like peacocks, that to get a mate you must put on your best display.
There are several ways to begin your search. Online dating sites have a wide array of people to choose from without leaving the comfort of your own home. They also have personal information protection unless you give your consent. You can also try a more traditional approach like leaving the house and venturing into the public. Don't limit yourself to only being able to find a mate in typical places such as clubs, bars or conventions. As long as you are willing to introduce yourself to others no matter where the site may be, you have a good chance of finding a date, which can lead to a potential mate.
-
Test Others
On your quest for a mate you must keep your values and the things you are looking for in mind at all times. Under no circumstances should you settle for something or someone you don't truly want. Settling for unwanted relationships means you will only carry extra baggage into the relationship. This will surface as resentment and regret later in the relationship.
The dating process is a way to weed out those you are not going to marry if you are looking for a lifelong partnership. While you should give everyone a fair chance, you should not waste your time or their time if you know for sure it will not work. This also goes hand-in-hand with knowing what you want and what your values are. Use dating as a way to find out what your potential mate's beliefs are. Ensure that you are truly displaying yourself in the way you live normally. This process is similar to testing others, but without the deceit the dating game often brings.
