Overview
Eye makeup has been so glamorized, it sometimes seems as though we need an advanced art or cosmetics degree to get it right. But applying eye shadow is not as complicated as it seems. With just a few basic tools, putting on eye shadow can be a quick and painless task that will easily become a part of your daily cosmetics routine. Here is a step-by-step guide to flawlessly applying eye shadow.

Easily put on eye shadow in just a few steps.

Step 1
Apply your usual foundation and powder to your face. Using your ring finger, gently apply a small amount of eye shadow cream base over your entire lid, from your lash line to your eyebrows. This base will ensure that your shadow stays on your eyelids through the day, and will help the colors of the eye shadow to stand out.
-
Step 2
Using the eye-shadow sponge applicator, apply the darker eye shadow on your eyelid. Keep the shadow color on your lid, going down to your lashes, but not going past your eye crease.
-
Step 3
Using the other side of the sponge applicator, apply the lighter eye shadow on the area above your crease up to your eyebrow. This lighter eye shadow acts as a highlighter, and will accentuate and bring out the darker color underneath.
-
Step 4
With the large eye-shadow brush, carefully blend the two eye-shadow colors so that you cannot see where one ends and the other begins. Starting from the outer corner of your eyes, use the brush and pull the edges of the darker color in and up toward the lighter color. Blend well.

- Use eyeliner to further define your eyes. Curling your lashes and applying mascara will also help to make your eyes seem larger and more open.
If you apply dark and heavy eye-shadow colors, you should lighten up the rest of your makeup. Use a light peach blush and a nude color on your lips.
