How to Use Non Duo Memory Sticks in Your PSP

Overview
Newer Sony PSPs (PlayStation Portables) use duo memory sticks to store images and saved files, whereas older models and other Sony Station consoles use larger, non-duo memory sticks. While many people will say that it is not possible to use a non-duo memory stick on the newer portable console, this is not entirely true. You can use the older memory sticks on newer PSPs, but it requires jury-rigging a device not intended for use on a PlayStation Portable.

Step 1
Insert the non-duo memory stick into the A.R.M. Jacket. It will fit, since Sony's Ericsson cell phone and non-duo memory PSP have the same slot size.
-
Step 2
Plug the adapter into the PSP. The plastic casing on the end of the A.R.M. Jacket may not fit in exactly at first, but it will fit if you fiddle with it enough. Gently filing the extra plastic off of the end of the A.R.M. Jacket's cable down may help, but it is not recommended.

Step 3
Close the memory door on the PSP. Strictly speaking, closing the memory door of the PSP is not necessary, but it does look better than leaving it open.
-
Step 4
Power up the PSP. The two types of memory sticks use the same format to store their information. The portable console should have no problem reading the information on the flash drive.
-
Step 5
Access the files from the drive. You can play movies, access saved game files or read digital-camera pictures that have been stored on the drive. When you want to use the duo memory sticks, just unplug the cable and store the A.R.M. Jacket someplace where it is not likely to be lost.
