  • Overview

Need keyword ideas for your website? Google offers a free tool that allows you to find the best keywords based on advertiser competition and search volume. Learn to use it and start generating content that will put your views in a whole new league.

  • Step 1

Access Google's free keyword tool by following the link in Resources.
  • Step 2

In the middle of the page, type in one keyword or phrase per line. Underneath, type in the green letters you see in the picture. Click on the button that reads "Get keyword ideas."
  • Step 3

Wait for the results to appear on the next page. You can click on the headings to sort the columns by various attributes. For example, click on the "Advertiser Competition" link at the top to sort the keywords by the highest or lowest level of competition.
  • Step 4

Note all of the related keywords that appear. Find keywords on the list with the lowest advertiser competition and the highest search volume.
