- Acquire the glowstick. You will first need to get your hands on a glowstick if you are to use one. Most camping and outdoors stores sell them for pretty cheap, typically a few dollars.Remove the glowstick from packaging. Using a pair of scissors, simply cut the top of the packaging and slide the glowstick out.Hold the glowstick with both hands to break it open. Cup both of your hands around the glowstick so that both your left and your right hand have ample grip on the stick.Activate the glowstick. Apply even amounts of pressure as you bend the glowstick. Bend one direction with your right hand and another direction with your left hand until you hear the glass tube inside crack.
