How to Use Aardvark to Solve Town Hall Problems
by Lamar Morgan

Overview
Aardvark is a free online social media service that helps people get answers to questions, usually in just five minutes via text messaging. The answers come from real people, not a database. Aardvark serves as the intermediary contact between the party asking the question and the party (or parties) providing the answer. There is no need to exchange contact information.
As a cyberspace answer tool, Aardvark is ideally suited to help town hall meetings find solutions to pressing problems quickly and efficiently via text messaging. When no one attending a meeting has a clue where to go to even look for an answer, all that is really needed is a cell phone and a text message to Aardvark to find the answer.

Step 1
Go to www.vark.com and and set up an Aardvark account. If you happen to have a Twitter or Facebook account, you can use that account as a fast means to set up your Aardvark account since both services provide a procedure for logging onto Aadvark.
-
Step 2
Seed Aarvark with professional people. This is done efficiently by doing Google searches under subjects titles appropriate to your town hall meetings and sending out an Aardvark invitation to those individuals having the expertise you need. You will find the Aardvark invitation link on www.vark.com.
-
Step 3
Be sure to take your mobile device (cell phone, Internet tablet, laptop) with you to every town hall meeting. Be sure the battery for the device is fully charged so you will not run out of power should you decide to leave your device on for the duration of the town hall meeting.
-
Step 4
When a question arises in a town hall meeting to which no one has an answer, the chairman of the town hall committee is likely to either table the question to a later date or request a committee be set up to find a solution. Either option is reason enough for you to go into action with your mobile device.
-
Step 5
Text the question to Aardvark using your mobile device. While there are number ways to do this, one of the easiest is simply to type @vark and your question on your Twitter.com account and send it into cyberspace. You should have a response within five minutes that helps solve the town hall's problem without having to set up a committee.

- It is not uncommon for there to be a need for follow-up questions and answers. When this happens, simply hit the reply button on your mobile device just as you would responding to an email message.

- Be sure to turn off your mobile device once you are through getting your question answered. Also, be sure to recharge your mobile device once you arrive back home from the town hall meeting so you will be ready to use it the following day.
