Overview
Maui is one island in the Hawaiian chain of islands in the Pacific Ocean. A favorite among American tourists, it is known both for its natural beauty and its upscale dining, shopping and golf courses. Fly, cruise, drive or bike around the island to enjoy its rich green valleys, rolling hills and sandy beaches. Hiking is another cost-effective way to enjoy the natural beauty of Maui and to catch sight of the notorious surfing expeditions offshore.

Step 1
Fly. Kahului Airport receives over 100 flights a day from Honolulu as well as several flights from the U.S. mainland. West Maui Airport also receives a dozen or so daily flights from Honolulu.
-
Step 2
Cruise. Take a boat ride from the Big Island of Hawaii or a sunset dinner cruise around the island. Princess Cruise Lines and The Lahaina Cruise Company provide both.
-
Step 3
Drive. Upon arrival to the island, there are plenty of scenic drives along the coast and throughout the interior. The famous winding road to Hana is truly breathtaking.
-
Step 4
Bike. Cycling on the island is a cheap way to view the local flora and fauna up close. Bicycles can be rented at most hotels and resorts as well as at local bike shops.
-
Step 5
Hike. There are numerous hiking trails on the island ending in fabulous views of mountains and valleys. A sunrise hike to the Haleakala Crater is truly incredible.

- Ask locals. While the hotels and resorts will plan your travel for a fee, talking to locals about the best ways to get around is a helpful way to meet people and save a few bucks.
