Obtaining a degree is not easy. It takes persistence and motivation to receive a college degree, whether the degree is being pursued at a traditional or online university. With a rise in technology, students are having to weigh the pros and cons of traditional schooling at a college campus versus attending an online university.
  • Pros of Traditional College

Some of the pros of obtaining a degree at a traditional university are the social interaction with peers, being able to communicate with the professor and students face to face, and being able to graduate with a set of peers that relationships and bonds are formed with.

  • Pros of Online Learning

One of the major pros of online learning is the convenience it provides. Being able to attend school any time of day or night in any attire is a huge benefit. Other benefits include the privilege of studying without having to work around a work schedule and being able to spend more time at home with family. Traveling is also much easier when school, via a laptop, can travel, too.

  • Cons of Traditional College

There are cons to attending a traditional college. When attending a traditional college, attendance is a must. If one class period is missed, not only will grades suffer, but you also must play catch-up.

  • Cons of Online Schooling

The No. 1 con to online schooling is that some careers will not honor the degree earned online, even if the school is accredited. As a pro to traditional schooling, social interaction is also a major con for online schooling. Not being able to have the "college experience" is enough to make many students turn to the traditional college setting.

  • Tuition

One factor that evens the playing field with traditional colleges versus online colleges is the tuition cost. Tuition to go to a traditional university is pretty much the same as going to an online college.
