Step 1
Start with your puppy laying down on the ground. This is the best position for your puppy to achieve and master rolling over, according to Dogclassonline.com.

Step 2
Familiarize your puppy with the command by commanding her to roll over. She will not do it on command the first time, but her will at least start to recognize it. Feel free to reward her with treats while telling her to roll over.
-
Step 3
Show your puppy the treat in your hand. Place it right in front of his nose, and slowly slide it horizontally away from him. Each time you slide it say, "Roll over." Eventually he will respond and flip over to get it. Be sure to give him a treat every time he flips over. If it helps, you can gently tip him in the direction you want him to go. Do not force her.
-
Step 4
While saying rollover, trace a letter "O" in the air to let your puppy know which motion she is to do. This will also allow you to eventually command her to roll over without actually saying anything.
-
Step 5
If he only does a half roll, command him to roll over until he completes a full 360-degree roll. Keep practicing this technique until he can do it on command, preferably without getting a reward.

- Be generous with your treats and reward your puppy whenever she completes a step correctly. The key to any trick is repetition. It may take you repeating these steps for a couple of days until your puppy realizes exactly what you want her to do. Don't get frustrated if your puppy cannot perform the trick. The more you work with her, the faster she will get it.
