How to Store Microwave Candy

by Allison Boelcke
  • Overview

Making homemade candy in the microwave saves time over using the stovetop or oven, but still risks making a mess, particularly with sticky candy. Proper storage is an essential part of microwave candy making because if you don't correctly store it, the candy can stick together in clumps. The proper storage technique and temperature will ensure the candy lasts a long time.

  • Step 1

Line a baking sheet with a layer of wax or parchment paper. Use a plastic spatula to transfer the hot candy straight from the microwave and onto the lined baking sheet.
  • Step 2

Place the baking sheet into your refrigerator. Chill the candy for about 30 minutes or until the candy is firm.
  • Step 3

Remove the candy from your refrigerator and slice it into pieces with a sharp knife. Wrap each individual piece of candy with wax or parchment paper.
  • Step 4

Transfer the wrapped candy into an airtight container. If the candy is intended to be chewy, store the container at room temperature for up to a week for the best results. Keep hard textured candy in the refrigerator for up to one month.
