Overview
Signs of Kidney Damage in Dogs
Kidney disease, or renal disease, is common in senior dogs. There are two types of kidney failure: acute, in which the symptoms are sudden and severe, and chronic, in which the symptoms come on slowly and subtly. Many symptoms of kidney disease are so similar to symptoms of other illnesses that you may not immediately know that your dog has kidney damage until he has been assessed by a veterinarian. However, the quicker you get him to the doctor following the onset of any symptoms, the more effective his treatment will be.
