How to Send a Video to a Cell Phone From a Computer

-
Overview
You'll find some of your favorite videos on your computer. Whether you download them from the Internet or upload them from your camera, your videos are always easily accessible. If you want to take your videos with you wherever you go, consider transferring them to your cell phone. Cell phone carriers do charge a fee at times to do this. However, you can send a video to a cell phone from a computer at no charge if you do so using your Bluetooth connection or a USB data cable.
-
Bluetooth Connection
-
Turn on the Bluetooth function on your cell phone.
-
Open the "Control Panel" on your computer and look for the Bluetooth icon, a feature built into many computers. Double-click on the icon to enable the Bluetooth function on your computer. You know it's enabled when you see the Bluetooth icon in the lower right side of your Windows task bar.
-
Connect your Bluetooth on your phone with the Bluetooth on your computer. With your Bluetooth control panel still open, check the boxes next to "Allow Bluetooth devices to find this computer" and "Allow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer."
-
Click the "Devices" tab, then click on "Add." The "Add Bluetooth Device Wizard" will open up and will automatically find your phone.
-
Step 5
Select your phone and hit "Next." When prompted, create a four-digit passkey which ensures you're connected to your phone and not to another Bluetooth device in the vicinity. Enter the passkey both in your computer and in your phone when prompted.
-
Step 6
Open up the software you have on your computer that contains drivers for your phone. This software allows you to link to your phone through the Bluetooth connection. Contact your cell phone manufacturer if you do not have this software.
-
Step 7
Use the software to navigate through your computer and choose the video you want to send to your cell phone. Click "Transfer" to send the file to your cell phone.
USB Data Cable
-
Download software like DataPilot (see Resources) which allows Windows XP or Windows Vista to recognize your cell phone so you can transfer files.
-
Plug one end of your USB data cable into your phone. Plug the other end of your USB data cable into your computer.
-
Use DataPilot to choose the video file on your computer that you want to send to your cell phone.
-
Click "Transfer" to send the file to your phone.
