How to Save Money on Holiday Parties
by Kecia Hambrick
-
Step 1
Have the party in your home. This will save a tremendous amount of money compared to renting a room in a hotel or restaurant, and it will be easier to host in a familiar location.
-
Step 2
Employ others to help cater the party. Have family members and friends bring their favorite dishes, or host a "potluck" meal in which all guests bring a food item.
-
Step 3
Know exactly how many people will be attending so that you don't waste money on extra food, beverages or other items. Compile a guest list, and, if possible, have the guests RSVP.
-
Step 4
Purchase festive plates and other utensils. Don't splurge on fine china or holiday designed dishes.
-
Step 5
Invite as many people as you can through email or social networking sites (MySpace or Facebook) This cuts down on the cost of invitations and postage, since nowadays most people participate in online correspondence.
