How to Remove Stickers From Furniture

Overview
Stickers, bumper stickers, duct tape and other forms of tape can leave a sticky residue on your metal, plastic or glass furniture. Various household products will remove the tape and also the goo that is left behind, such as vinegar and mineral oil, paint thinner, furniture polish and petroleum jelly also work. Goo Gone is also a great natural, citrus-based degreaser sold at your local hardware store. However, peanut butter is a common, inexpensive item that, in conjunction with a hairdryer, can take care of your worst sticker problems.

Step 1
Wipe the area with a paper towel or clean cloth.
-
Step 2
Use a hairdryer on high speed to melt the glue under the sticker to make removal of the sticker easier. If you are still having trouble removing the sticker, try using a very fine blade, such as a craft knife. Slowly slice away the label and glue. Hold the blade at a slight downward angle. However, be careful to not scratch the furniture.

Step 3
After peeling the sticker away, apply peanut butter to the remaining goo using a paper towel. Wipe it in a circular motion until it is gone.
-
Step 4
Wash the area with a light mixture of dish soap and water. Then wipe it off with a paper towel or clean cloth.

- If you have a piece of antique furniture, try dabbing a bit of the peanut butter on a hidden spot to assess the potential impact of the peanut oils on the furniture.
