How to Re-Awaken the Creative Self

1Longer nights and shorter days can leave some folks with the doldrums. If you’re feeling uninspired, here are a few ideas to reawaken your creativity and leave you rejuvenated from the inside out. Try these tips alone, or share them with your friends and family, and compare your results after a week or two.creativity103
    Keep a diary, or start a blog, and update it daily. Be sure to go back and read your prior entries at least once a month. You’ll find yourself fascinating in retrospect!Take scenic walks two or three times a week. Bring your favorite music and a set of earbuds along with you, or better still, make a new mix every week so that you can expand your favorites list.Take yourself on a date once a week. Do something you really want to do, whether it’s ice skating, going to the theater or a movie, or just sitting in your favorite bookshop reading and drinking a cappuccino.Paint a picture or cut out pictures from magazines to make a collage representing your inner life or a subject of interest.Make a recording of that melody running through your mind. If you play music, come up with an arrangement to accompany it and add some lyrics. You’re a songwriter!Visit the crafting section of your local department store and buy yarn, needles and a book about knitting or crochet. Make a fire in the fireplace and get to work on that sweater or scarf.
