Overview
Nobody likes to have pimples on their face. When you have a pimple, you may feel like people who aren't really looking at you but at the pimple on your face. Rest assured, there are ways to prevent acne. Here are a few tips on how to prevent acne on the face.
-
-
Step 1
Have a healthy skin care regimen. Wash your face in the morning and before you go to bed at night. As hard as it may be sometimes, do not go to bed with makeup on your face. Give your face a chance to breathe at night. Makeup can clog your pores and ultimately lead to acne breakouts on your face. Choose a facial cleanser that doesn't irritate your skin. It may take a while to find one that works for you. If you have sensitive skin and aren't sure what brand to choose, call your dermatologist and doctor and ask them for advice.
-
Step 2
Drink water. You need to drink about 8 cups of water a day. If you have a hard time drinking 8 cups of water on a regular basis, consider carrying a water bottle with you everywhere you go. Make it a goal to drink 64 oz. of water a day.
-
Step 3
Exercise regularly. Exercising helps reduce stress, as well as increase blood circulation and oxygen penetration to the surface of your skin. This may help reduce acne. Wash your face right after you work out because sweat and skin oils can create a bad combination and trap dirt and bacteria in your pores, thus leading to acne breakouts.
-
Step 4
Develop healthy sleeping habits. Wash your pillow case often and be sure to pull your hair away from your face while you sleep. If you wear hair products, you may trigger an acne breakout if your hair rubs up against your face while you're sleeping.
-
Step 5
Don't pick at pimples. If you see a pimple, don't squeeze it. Squeezing or picking at pimples can lead to infection or scarring. Messing with a pimple doesn't usually make it better.

- Don't pick at pimples. No matter how badly you want to, stay away from them. Picking at blemishes doesn't help--it usually ends up making it worse through either scarring or infection.
