Overview
Thousands of people have discovered the advantages of buying and selling merchandise on eBay. If you're looking for anything from guitars to baby clothes or even delicate china plates, chances are you'll find it on eBay. Vehicle diagnostic tools are easy to sell on the site; however, they can be tricky to post.
-
Cleaning and Testing
-
No matter what diagnostic tool you are selling, make sure it still works first. If it has cords or cables or software, ascertain they are in good condition before you start your auction.
-
Clean the item. Make sure there are no significant blemishes on any LCD screens and no tears in any of the cords.
-
If the cords are long, zip-tie them together, to avoid having a big glob of wires in your pictures.
Photographing
-
Find a clear table that offers an uncluttered background. You do not want anything in your pictures that is not included in the auction.
-
Set the tool and all accessories, manuals and software on the table and take your main picture. This is the picture that shows everything included in the auction.
-
Photograph each accessory and the manual and software separately.
-
Photograph the tool.
-
Upload your pictures to your computer.
Writing the Auction
-
At the very top of the auction information, list the make and model of the tool.
-
Directly below the make and model, note the years and make of vehicles the tool supports.
-
List any damages or issues with the tool.
-
List all of the accessories and manuals included in your auction.
-
Upload your pictures into your auction. This process will vary depending on which eBay management site you use. Consult your management system to see how they upload pictures into their auctions.
-
Step 6
Preview your auction.
Most management systems have an icon at the bottom of the auction that allows you to preview the auction. Depending on the system, this may draw up a new screen that shows you exactly what your auction is going to look like once it is posted.
Check for any spelling errors and make certain that your photographs are clear.
-
Step 7
To post your auction to eBay you will normally have two choices; either you post to eBay immediately or you schedule it for a later time. This process will depend on your management system but in most cases it will be at the very bottom of your screen. If you choose to post to eBay immediately then click the icon to post it. If you want to schedule it for another time then click the "schedule" icon.
The "schedule" icon will bring you to a small calender and clock. From there you choose what day and time you want your item to post. Most management sites will have a confirm icon when you have finished scheduling. Click "confirm" and your item will be posted at the designated time and date.

- If you have a lot of accessories you may want to double up on the cords. Some eBay management systems only allow a certain number of pictures for free. You'll need to consult your management system to find out how many you are allowed.
