How to Post Multiple Resumes Online

Overview
As with any marketing tool, the more places it is put, the more attention it will get and the more results will occur. A resume is not so different from any type of ad or billboard that is trying to sell a product. Your resume is selling you. Posting multiple resumes online greatly increases your chances of finding several job opportunities from which you can pick from. Be sure you have a plain text or ASCII version both with and without breaks that you can post on multiple sites.

Step 1
Edit your resume so you have an ASCII version (with breaks) that you can put into a resume-posting site with one "cut and paste". The second version you need is without breaks to be used on sites that require piece-by-piece placement of the text from your resume. Be sure you have at least five keywords that relate to your career. Many resume-posting sites require this and the words make it much easier for an employer to find you.
-
Step 2
Consider how much confidentiality you need. If you are currently employed, you run the risk of the boss or someone at work finding your resume online. Consider using your first initial and last name or using a resume-posting site that offers security features that do not allow non-clients to view onsite information. Never include personal information, such as your social security number. You may want to consider a special email for job searching and a PO Box for an address.
-
Step 3
Post your resume to different career search sites. Some of the most popular ones are www.CareerBuilder.com, www.Monster.com and www.HotJobs.com. Consider local posting sites to the area you are targeting, such as local community sites and help wanted ads. There are many resume-posting sites that specialize in certain careers, such as www.Engineer-CAD.com or www.FoodserviceJobs.com. Some sites focus on salary range, such as www.theladders.com and www.6FigureJobs.com. You can manually go site to site and post your resume. The key here is discipline and a game plan. Make a goal, for example, of finding and posting on three sites per day. Try this for two weeks (42 sites) and see what results you get. Another option is to use a resume- posting service. Sites such as www.resumerabbit.com will post your resume on over 80 job sites. Some services cost money and offer various benefits, such as an emailed report of how many sites the resume is on, how many views it received per day, and so on. Spend some time researching the various resume-posting sites before you pay anything.

Step 4
Purchase software or visit sites such as resume-writing-software-review.toptenreviews.com and download.cnet.com which rate resume writing programs and offer some for free. There are many programs that will help you in writing a resume and post it online for you. Some recommended programs include: Resume Maker Professional and EasyJob Resume Builder Software.
