How to Plant a Money Tree in Animal Crossing

Overview
"Animal Crossing: Wild World" is a video game available for the Nintendo DS console. In the game, you create a character for yourself and explore the community. In order to buy new items such as clothes and furniture, you need to earn or find "Bells." The "Bells" are the currency used in the game. However, there is a tree that, when planted, will give your character three 30,000 Bell bags. It is a bit tricky to plant the tree and, even when you follow all of the steps accurately, does not work 100 percent of the time.

Step 1
Buy two shovels from "Nook's Store." If you are unsure where the store is located, refer to the map in your game. Unfortunately, you can purchase only one of each item at the store per day. Therefore, you will have to buy one shovel and return to the store every day until another becomes available to purchase the second.

Step 2
Equip your character with one of the shovels by selecting it from your inventory. Once a shovel is equipped, press "A" to dig a hole in front of your character.

Step 3
Plant one of the shovels by burying it in the hole that your character previously dug. To bury the shovel, have your character stand in front of the hole. Then select the second shovel from your inventory and choose "Bury."

Step 4
Return to the spot in which you buried the shovel 24 hours later. Use the shovel in your inventory to dig up the buried one by having your character stand facing the spot. With the first shovel equipped, select "A" to dig up the buried shovel. You should now have a golden shovel in your inventory.

Step 5
Use the golden shovel to bury a bag of "Bells" in the same fashion that you buried the shovel. You can bury any amount of them that you choose; however, it is believed that the amount you bury affects the amount you receive from the tree or even the likelihood that it will grow.

Step 6
Collect the "Bell" bags from the tree if one does grow after a few days. To collect the bags, make your character face the tree and press "A" to shake it. Three bags should fall to the ground around the tree. Approach the bags and select "A" to add them to your inventory.
