How to Plan a Fiesta Theme Party
by Leslie R. Thompson
-
Overview
Fiesta parties are easy to organize with simple, advance planning. Fiesta parties are casual affairs, featuring Mexican food, music and decor. When planning any event, set up a timeline to get things done so that you are not scrambling to do it all at the last minute.

Planning A Fiesta Party
-
Step 1
Organize the party six to eight weeks in advance. Make out the guest list. Set up a budget. Draw up a checklist of tasks you need to do each week until the party.
-
Step 2
Send out invitations two to three weeks in advance. Incorporate the theme into the invitations. Let them know if you want them to come in costume. Include a phone number and ask guests to respond in advance if they will attend.
-
Step 3
Start organizing decorations. Use a lot of red, white and green in your decor, which can include sombreros, a pinata, maracas and crafts from Mexico. Look for Mexican folk music CDs for background music.
-
Step 4
Buy the ingredients for the food and beverages one week prior to the party. Fiesta food can include a taco bar, quesadillas, guacamole, tamales, and chips and salsa. Prepare taco meat in advance. Refrigerated it to make your job easier on the day of the event. Consider having a margarita bar or Mexican beer to drink. Have nonalcoholic beverages, too.
