Paintball Scenario Rules

by Kyle McBride
  • Overview

Paintball is a popular sport that is becoming ever more accessible to the general public. Indoor and speedball fields as well as outdoor/woodland facilities are available in many areas. Paintball markers (guns) and all other supplies, including paint and air canisters, are available at many large department stores. Games may be organized without a formal field as long as the safety rules are adhered to and areas suitable for play can be easily found.
  • Capture the Flag

Hang a flag in each base occupied by the two teams. These bases are ideally at opposite ends of the playing field. Divide the field in half and each team will start the match on its side of the field. Each team will have to simultaneously guard its own flag and try to capture the enemy flag. When a team captures the enemy flag it must be carried back to home base. You may only score if you hold your own flag as well as your enemy's flag while at your own home base. Eliminated players retire from the field for five minutes to the dead zone, then re-enter play through their own home base.

  • Assault

Place a flag in a defensible position within the home base of Team 1. Start the match with players on their side of an imaginary halfway mark of the field, with Team 2 starting out just out of range of Team 1. During play, Team 2 attempts to liberate Team 1's flag. The eliminated players do not return to the game in progress. Team 1 wins when all Team 2 players are eliminated. Team 2 wins when all Team 1 is eliminated or when they lay hands on Team 1's flag
  • Relay

Set up with Teams 1 and 2 on a small playing field. Mark a home bases for each team. Home base could be trees or other easily located objects which are about equidistant from the half-line of the field. When a player on one side takes a hit, he runs back to touch home base. If he touches it before a second player on his team gets eliminated, he may return to combat immediately. If a second player gets hit before the first player touches home base, they are both eliminated and will not return to the game in progress.
