The state of South Carolina is highly supportive of online schooling. In 2007, the South Carolina Legislature passed a bill to allow state-funded virtual charter schools. Since then, a number of online high schools have emerged in South Carolina, offering the state's students free high-quality education that is flexible and convenient. From virtual courses that supplement traditional schooling to full-time diploma programs, South Carolina students have many online education options.
Provost Academy South Carolina

Provost Academy an online public high school, so there is no tuition for South Carolina residents. Students are provided with a laptop computer and all course materials free of charge, as well as reimbursement for high speed Internet costs. Students are required to take a full credit load, and cannot be simultaneously enrolled in another school. Honors, Advanced Placement and SAT preparation courses are offered. South Carolina Virtual Charter School

South Carolina Virtual Charter School (SCVCS) is a tuition-free public school for South Carolina students from kindergarten through 12th grade. SCVCS uses the K12 curriculum and strives to cater to each student's individual academic needs, with more than 90 online course offerings. Students are also encouraged to participate in the school's extracurricular clubs and activities. South Carolina Connections Academy

South Carolina students who meet enrollment requirements can attend South Carolina Connections Academy at no cost. The academy's high school program is accredited by AdvancED and includes a variety of core and elective courses, as well as honors and Advanced Placement courses. South Carolina Virtual School Program

South Carolina students who want a combination of traditional and online schooling will benefit from the South Carolina Virtual School Program. This program, which is operated by the South Carolina Department of Education, is designed to give traditional students access to online courses that can enrich their school-based educational experience. A variety of courses are offered, including Forensic Science, Personal Finance, Art History, Music Theory and more.
