Oklahoma Marriage License Requirements
As your big day approaches, you've got everything ready--the dress, the cake, the flowers (and of course, your spouse-to-be!). However, before you can say "I do," you're going to need a marriage license to make it legal.
-
Eligibility
Heterosexual couples age 18 and older are eligible for an Oklahoma marriage license. Minors who are 16 or 17 may get a license with parental consent.
-
Proof of Age and Identity
Applicants must bring proof of age and identity such as a driver's license, passport, or a certified birth certificate. A birth certificate is required for minors.
-
Waiting Period
There is no waiting period for adults in the state of Oklahoma (minors are required to wait 72 hours). However, applicants who have been divorced in Oklahoma must wait six months after their divorce is final before remarrying.
-
Fee
The fee for a marriage license varies by county but is about $50 in most counties. The fee is reduced to $5 for couples who complete state-approved premarital counseling.
-
Where to Go
Marriage licenses may be obtained at any county court clerk's office in the state.
-
Validity Period
Oklahoma marriage licenses are only valid for 10 days from the date of issue.
