Natural Homemade Cleaning Products
Using homemade cleaning products is not only healthier for you and your family, but it also helps the environment. According to National Geographic's Green Guide, "Conventional all-purpose cleaners are full of ingredients that pose both health and environmental hazards, without getting your home any cleaner."
-
Carpet Stains
Put equal parts of hot water and white vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray on the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes, then press on it with a cloth or use a brush to remove the stain.
-
Cutting Boards
Rub lemon slices on cutting boards to disinfect them. For stains, squeeze lemon juice and let it stay for 10 minutes---then rinse with hot water and air dry.
-
Floor Cleaners
Use water and white vinegar in equal amounts to clean linoleum, wood and tile floors.
-
Disinfectant Spray
Put 2 cups hot water, 1/4 teaspoon tea tree oil and 1/4 cup white vinegar in a spray bottle. If you would like your spray to be fragrant, add 1/4 teaspoon lavender oil.
-
Wood Furniture Polish
Mix 1/2 cup warm water and a few lemon oil drops into a small spray bottle. Spray the mixture onto a cloth until it is just damp, not wet. Use a clean cloth to wipe the furniture dry.
