You've found the love of your life and now you're ready to say "I do." Before you can take a walk down the aisle, though, you're going to need a marriage license to make it legal. Here is what is required to get a marriage license in Mississippi.
  • Eligibility

Heterosexual couples age 21 and older are eligible for a Mississippi marriage license. Females between the ages of 15 and 20 and males between the ages of 17 and 20 can get a license with parental consent.

  • Proof of Age and Identity

Applicants must bring proof of age and identity, such as a driver's license, military record, birth certificate or school record.
  • Blood Test

The state of Mississippi requires that all applicants be tested for syphilis. This can be done at a county health department or by a private physician.
  • Fee

The fee for a marriage license can vary by county, but in most counties, it is less than $30. This fee does not include the cost of the blood test.
  • Where to Go

Applicants who are 21 years old and older may get their marriage license at the office of any circuit court clerk in the state. Applicants under 21 must go to the circuit court clerk's office in their home county.
