How to Make Yeast Bread

by Anthony Smith
  • Overview

The smell of bread baking in the oven is only topped by actually getting to sample it as it comes out fresh and warm. The baking of yeast bread holds a special place in many people's hearts because it is traditionally associated with such great memories as mom's kitchen at home, or smells coming from a neighborhood bakery. With honey wheat yeast bread, you can make some memories of your own.

  • Step 1

Combine the water cottage cheese, honey and butter in a large saucepan and heat gently to about 120 to 130 F. Add yeast to the mix and stir so that it dissolves.
  • Step 2

Add 2 cups of the flour and the remaining ingredients and beat for two minutes. Stir in remaining flour and make a stiff dough.
  • Step 3

Knead the dough on a well-floured surface until it has an elastic consistency. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Place the bowl in a warm spot and allow it to rise for about an hour or until it has doubled in size.
  • Step 4

Grease two loaf pans. Punch the dough down, divide it into 2 loaves, and place them into the pans. Let the loaves rise again until the surface is about 1/2 inch from the top of the pan.
  • Step 5

Heat the oven to 350 F. Bake the loaves for 20 to 25 minutes, until they are a deep golden brown color.
