How to Make Wine Gift Bags
by Ann Hudson
-
Step 1
Use the wine bottle to measure the amount of fabric that will be needed by laying it down lengthwise on the fabric. Cut out a rectangle of fabric that is large enough to accommodate the bottle, adding 1 inch to the bottom end and 2 inches to the top end.

Use the bottle to measure fabric.
-
Step 2
Stitch together the two shortest ends of the fabric rectangle.
-
Step 3
Fold over 1/4 inch at the top edge of the fabric and press. Fold top edge down again 1 inch and stitch. This will create a casing for the ribbon or cord.
-
Step 4
Fold the fabric in half with the right sides together and stitch along the bottom. Then stitch along the side of the fabric, stopping just before reaching the casing. Back stitch to secure seam.

Sew along bottom and sides.
-
Step 5
Attach a safety pin to the end of the ribbon or cord and use to feed through one of the casing openings at the top of the bag.

Feed ribbon or cord through casing.
-
Step 6
After pulling the cord or ribbon through the top casing, feed both ends of the cord or ribbon through the center of the decorative bead. Tie the two ends of the ribbon or cord together.

Add bead to ribbon or cord and tie off

Step 7
Turn the gift bag to the right side and press. Insert wine bottle and close with drawstring.
