How to Make Slaw

    There is nothing like a side of slaw. Slaw goes well with many dishes and has many uses. It can be used as a topping for hot dogs, a spread for a pork sandwich or a side for a barbecue dinner. Slaw is easy to make and only takes about 15 minutes, including preparation time.
 
  • Step 1

    Finely grate one head of cabbage to make about 4½ cups. Grate the carrot to make about 1 cup.
  • Step 2

    Pour the grated cabbage and carrot into a mixing bowl and toss together.
  • Step 3

    Add vinegar, mayonnaise, onion and sugar to the bowl and mix. Add a pinch of salt and pepper.

    Refrigerate until cool.

  • You may add more mayonnaise if desired. You may also substitute lemon juice for the vinegar.
