Overview
A pin, sometimes referred to as a brooch, is a popular and versatile adornment. Pins are often affixed to shirts or jackets, but they can also be used to embellish totes, backpacks, purses and other garments and accessories. They come in a broad assortment of shapes, sizes, colors, and styles, and range from antique cameos to intricate beaded creations, from smiling happy faces to slogan-bearing buttons. Gold pins are both eye-catching and elegant. It is fun and easy to create your own gold pins using basic bar pins obtained from a craft- or jewelry-supply store.

Step 1
Obtain as many gold bar pins as are required to make the number of pins you desire. Note that you can also obtain V-shaped bar pins, which may be better suited for creating smaller pins, or round pins. Bar pins are available at many craft supply and jewelry supply retailers, as well as from online vendors such as firemountaingems.com.
-
Step 2
Assemble an assortment of gold items with which you will embellish the gold bar pins. These may include gold coins, gold beads, gold charms or any other gold item that catches your fancy. Consider making pins with gold ribbons, gold buttons or wooden shapes painted in gold.
-
Step 3
Pick up a gold bar pin. Rub the portion of the bar pin that will be covered by a decorative component with coarse sandpaper. Use sandpaper to roughen this portion of the bar pin so that your heavy-duty adhesive will stick to it more effectively.
-
Step 4
Apply a thin layer of adhesive to the portion of the bar pin you just sanded.
-
Step 5
Grasp the first gold component, such as a gold coin, that you want to turn into a gold pin. Apply a thin coat of adhesive to the backside of the component--the side that you do not want to show.
-
Step 6
Press the component and the bar pin together. Use a clothespin or other clamping device to keep them pressed firmly together. Place the freshly glued pin a cool, dry place where it can remain undisturbed until it is completely dry. Follow the adhesive manufacturer's instructions for drying time. Repeat this process to make as many gold pins as you desire.
