The trouble with using lots of coupons, though, lies in being able to keep track of them and quickly find a particular one when you need it, making this worthwhile process time consuming. Fortunately, do-it-yourself coupon organizers made from catalog envelopes can save you time by providing a safe place for storing coupons and grouping them by category.

Step 1
Use a ruler to draw eight squares on card stock that measure 3-by-3 inches. Draw two rectangles measuring 6-by-3 inches. Cut out the shapes, which will be used as pockets for the organizer.

Place the envelope horizontally on a flat surface so that the side with the clasp is facing up. Place the tip of your finger inside the envelope to separate two halves.

Use scissors to make two vertical slits in the side of the envelope that has the clasp. Each slit should be approximately one inch away from the edge, starting at the very top of the envelope. Stop cutting when you are about one inch away from the bottom edge. You should now have a large flap that opens to reveal the inside of the envelope.

Open the flap created by the vertical slits.

Position four of the squares on the top of the inside of the large flap. Ideally, there should be about one inch of space between the squares. Use strips of tape to attach all except the bottom side to the flap. Use this technique to tape the remaining shapes to the flap and the inside of the other half of the envelope.

Label each pocket with categories such as "Food" or "Cosmetics". Use the bigger pockets for the categories that tend to have larger coupons.

Step 7
Place coupons into the pockets. Return the flap to its original position and close the clasp to keep the coupons safe until you need to access them.
