How to Make a Blog Have a Password

by LizaK
  • Overview

A blog can be used to share information and communicate with people in a variety of ways. Because blogs exist on the Internet, they are open to viewing by anyone. For those who wish to limit access to a blog, privacy settings can be used to require a password or that a person be added to a list of approved viewers.
Creating a password for a blog is a way to limit access.

  • Step 1

Choose a blog provider that allows privacy settings. There are hundreds of choices, but those that are generally easy to use include Blogger, Blogster, Word Press and social networking sites like MySpace.
  • Step 2

Set up the blog's web address and other information. Then click on "Privacy Settings" in the control panel or dashboard.
  • Step 3

Scroll through the privacy options or settings until reaching the section about who can view the blog. In this section are options for privacy, including setting a password to view the blog. Set the options according to your preferences and choose a password to use. The password must be given to anyone authorized to view the blog.
