How to Make 200 Gold an Hour in WoW

by Contributing Writer
  • Overview

Two hundred gold is a lot to make in an hour; more than you're likely to make from raids or even from farming materials in World of Warcraft. To make that kind of gold in an hour, you'll need to become proficient at playing the market. In the World of Warcraft, that means specifically looking at the Auction House and planning to do a lot of day-trading there.

  • Step 1

Download and install the Auctioneer add-on (see Resources below). This will allow you to view incredibly detailed stats for any items you are considering selling or buying, and a history of auction house prices.
  • Step 2

Check in two or three times a day to look at prices on various basic goods, such as cloth, ores and commonly available disenchantable green items. After a week, you should have a general idea of the prices of goods tend in your realm.
  • Step 3

Create a new character solely for use in the auction houses. You'll need to check them constantly, and you don't want to be stuck out on a quest when important gold-making opportunities arise.
  • Step 4

Look for items that are selling for a large percentage below the average prices that you discovered in Step 3. Remember that percentage margin is more important than actual margin. Twenty large obsidian shards for 85 gold instead of 86 is not a great deal, but getting 20 copper bars for six gold instead of seven is.
  • Step 5

Try to monopolize an item when possible. If you can buy up the entire supply of an item that people need and then raise the prices, they will have no choice but to purchase from you.
  • Step 6

Sell your big-ticket items on weekends, because that's when the most people play. This will give you the largest chance of making a big sale.
