-
Overview
Line dance has a great number of steps with varying difficulty, but you can start with some of the more commonly used basic steps.
-
Grapevine
The grapevine is a three-count step done to the right or left. If going right, step to the right with the right foot, step behind the right foot with the left, then step to the right with the right foot again.
-
Touch
Lift foot and touch the heel or toe to ground. Weight remains on the other leg.
-
Hook
One foot is lifted and crossed in front or back of the other leg with toe pointed downward.
-
Scuff/Brush
Swing the foot in the proper direction while scraping it slightly on the ground. Scuffs use the heel, and brushes use the ball of the foot.
-
Chasse
A foot steps in any direction, then the other follows. If going right, step to the right with the right foot, then step right with the left so the feet are together again.
-
Jazz Square
Step in a square pattern. If going right, step with left-foot crossing over right, step backward with right, step backward with left, then pull feet together by stepping left with right.
