| How to Lift a 2.5 Ton Truck
How to Lift a 2.5 Ton Truck
by Paul Vaughn
-
Overview
Heavy trucks can be lifted using steps similar to those that are used for cars. The size of the lifting equipment is much larger and the safety precautions more important, however, as the risk of serious injury is greater with a heavy truck than with a car.

-
Step 1
Set the air brake system to the locked position.
-
Step 2
Place the air jack under the front center of the suspension system. The frame rail is a good place to jack from.
-
Step 3
Turn the air jack knob to the closed position by turning counterclockwise.
-
Step 4
Hook up the shop air line to the quick connect on the air jack.
-
Step 5
Place wheel chocks behind each rear wheel.
-
Step 6
Pull the trigger on the air jack and lift to the desired height. The same procedure can be used to jack up the rear of the truck as well.

- Follow the steps of this procedure to the letter. If the steps are not followed, serious injury may result. Do not jack up the truck with the air brakes unlocked. This can cause injury and damage to your truck.
