How to Learn Skateboarding Tricks
by Art Corvelay
-
Step 1
Determine what trick you want to learn. This may sound like common sense, but it is extremely important to choose a trick that is not too advanced for you. Many advanced tricks rely the knowledge of easier tricks. See additional resources for a list of tricks that are good for beginners.
-
Step 2
Watch the trick you want to learn in as many ways as possible. Watch skaters do the trick live or watch videos of the trick on the Internet. Pay special attention to the feet location and the speed of the trick.
-
Step 3
Make sure you are not attempting a combination trick that requires you to know more than one trick.
-
Step 4
Try the trick on grass first if the trick is stationary. If the trick requires you to be moving, move on to step 5.
-
Step 5
Try the trick at full speed once you feel comfortable with it. Don't to try a trick at half speed. You can easily get hurt doing this.
-
Step 6
Try the trick again if you failed to land it. You will almost never land a trick the first time. Practice is the only way to master new tricks.
