Creole
With the immigration of many Haitians in the early 19th century, creole (a blend of French and African dialects) was brought to Cuba. Although initially Haitian immigrants faced significant discrimination, in 1959 Haitians "were given the right to develop the Creole language." As a result, Creole is a dominant language in Cuba today.

English
Since Cuba is a popular holiday, medical, and tourist location, many health and recreation facilities speak English. The language is also becoming popular among many of the natives (post-baby boomers), although older generations resist the trend to learn a language other than Spanish.

Lucumi
Another sub language of Cuba is Lucumi, sometimes called "Yoruba" and "Santeria." This is a 'secret' language used as part of the Santeria religion.
