Restaurants that have been approved as kosher will have a certificate, otherwise known as a te'udah, hanging in the restaurant. Kosher restaurants abide by Jewish dietary laws, and if the owner is Jewish, must be closed to observe the sabbath (Friday night until Saturday night) and Jewish holidays.
