Job Duties of a Preschool Teacher

Overview
Being a preschool teacher takes a lot of patience, endurance and a love of children. You are the one who starts your students' educational career. It can be a rewarding career to work with this age group.
-
Lesson Plans
Your main priority is to create lesson plans that will engage your students. Usually, in a preschool setting, all your lessons will center around one thematic unit a week, like family.
-
Objectives
You will need to determine what specific learning objectives you will teach. Set up an informal assessment to determine if your students have mastered them.
-
Discipline
You will need to have a classroom management system to make sure your classroom runs smoothly. One that works well with this age group is a system that rewards students for making good behavioral choices.
-
Communication
You will need to keep the parents informed through newsletters, emails and phone calls. You will also have conferences to discuss progress.
-
Classroom
You will need to decorate your classroom in an inviting manner, usually with centers. You will be responsible for keeping it current and changing out bulletin boards throughout the year.
