  • Overview

Ivy League colleges look at the total application package when making admissions decisions. What schools are looking for are well rounded individuals, who excel in both academics and extracurricular activities.

  • Academics

While higher grades will increase your chances of admission, an average of high B grades might be acceptable with significant achievements in other areas.
  • SAT

While it's hard to determine a minimum requirement, students admitted to Ivy League colleges typically have SAT scores of between the low 600s to 800 in each subject.
  • Extracurriculars

Extracurricular activities are very important in Ivy League Admissions. Schools are looking for leadership, awards and accomplishments in student groups or contests.
  • Impacted Majors

Some majors will have an excess of applicants (most commonly engineering or business). Students applying for admittance to these programs will be held to higher standards than other applicants.
  • Professional Schools

Ivy League professional schools (graduate schools in business, law or medicine) are among the most difficult programs to get into, and may require significant professional experience or internships to have good chances of being accepted.
