As both Connecticut and New England's southernmost city, Greenwich shares many cultural and historical ties to nearby Long Island and New York City. In 2005, CNN and Money Magazine gave the town the No. 12 spot on their annual "100 Best Places to Live" report. Given the region's rich history as a beacon for immigrants from southern Europe, it should surprise no one that that Greenwich is home to a number of Italian restaurants.

The Little Italian Restaurant

True to its name, the Little Italian is a cozy eatery housed in a charming brick building in Greenwich's Byram neighborhood. The menu, while offering few surprises (one notable exception being the salmon and goat cheese pizza), thoroughly covers the favorites, from manicotti to chicken cacciatore. Specializing in takeout and large orders, Pasta Vera has been feeding busy Greenwich families for over two decades. Dining in, however, also has its perks: namely a compact, yet well-rounded wine menu. Billing itself as a "New York City-style" restaurant (translation: classy), Terra uses traditional Italian cuisine as a launching point for its selection of elegant, upscale dishes. While diners won't find marsala or parmigiana among the entrees, they'll likely be too intrigued by the veal chop with red onion confit, shaved daikon, and baby arugula to notice what's missing.
