  • Do Anxiety Disorders Make You "Crazy"?

One of the symptoms of anxiety disorders is a fear of "going crazy." People with anxiety disorders are often relieved to learn that feeling like you are going crazy or "losing it" is often just a symptom of excessive anxiety. It does not mean that you actually are "crazy."

  • Common Anxiety Disorders

Some of the more common anxiety disorders are childhood separation anxiety disorder, social phobia and other phobias, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.
  • Anxiety and Panic Attacks

A panic attack is not an anxiety disorder, but panic attacks sometimes occur in people who have anxiety disorders. Panic attacks are a defining feature of panic disorder.
  • Anxiety Disorder Causes

Anxiety disorders are bio-psycho-social in nature. This means that they are caused by a combination of things, including genetics (bio), things like personality traits and patterns of thinking (psycho) and relationships and experiences in the world (social).
