How to Import Entities In GtkRadiant

by Contributing Writer
1Sometimes, the architecture and general layout of a map needs some supplementing to create the perfect atmosphere for your environment. One of the most common ways to do this is by importing prefabricated entities into your map. Luckily, GtkRadiant makes entity import a very easy process, thanks in part to its simplified interface that revolutionized scripting and game design. Even though it is considered to be a part of old generation gaming utilities, there is a reason that even next generation titles use it: It's brilliantly user-friendly but doesn't sacrifice performance in order to remain so.
Open GtkRadiant.Open your map by clicking on "File" then "Open" and selecting your .MAP file.Right click in the 2 dimensional window.Click on "Entities." A new selection menu appears. From here, you can simply choose which stock entity you want to import into your map.Select an entity and drag it into place in the 2 dimensional window. From here, the magic of the editor takes over, as it will do all of the scripting and programming for you. Simply save, compile and enjoy the results in a game.
