  • Overview

Health care professionals are in high demand. Entry-level positions can often be obtained with a year or less of training. You can expect to take classroom and laboratory instruction in biology, chemistry or administration.
  • Health Administrator

Health care administrators usually require a master's degree in health administration or related programs. These programs train students in managing medical staff, equipment and policies.

  • Dental Assistant

Dental assistants complete programs accredited by American Dental Association. Certificate programs take less than a year to complete, while associate degree programs take two years.
  • Practical Nurse

Programs offering certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse typically last about one year. An examination for licensing as an LPN is required to begin work.
  • Radiologist

Radiologic technicians are trained by hospitals or colleges in x-ray technology and analysis. Program length varies from one to four years, and may lead to certification, an associate's or bachelor's degree.
  • Lab Tech

Laboratory technicians usually will need a bachelor's degree in medical technology, biology or another life science. Lab technicians conduct tests to aid in the detection and diagnosis of disease.
