Overview
While it might be tempting to go as a witch or vampire this Halloween, reflect the holiday's creative spirit with your costume choice. If you're stumped for a novel idea for your costume and think it's all been done before, rest assured that there are still plenty of ideas out there that aren't run-of-the-mill.
-
Advertising Icons
For a fun Halloween costume that's sure to bring back childhood memories, choose a popular advertising icon. Consider all the advertising icons made popular throughout the years such as the Lucky Charms leprechaun, the Burger King and the Energizer Bunny. While you're sure to find some retail costumes of more popular advertising icons, consider putting together your own by combining ready-made costumes with handmade accessories. For instance, a pink bunny costume coupled with a cheap hatbox decorated as a drum will transform you into the Energizer Bunny.

Alien Exterminator
While you could always just go as a bug exterminator, an alien exterminator makes a more creative choice for a costume. A pair of cheap coveralls decorated with a homemade "patch" made from inkjet printable fabric will designate you as an alien exterminator. To really knock the socks off people, design a faux business card and print it onto white cardstock. Give your "business card" to those who take an interest in your costume.

Hitchhiking Ghost
Use white stage make-up to cover your face and any other part of your skin that will be visible. Rim your eyes with black makeup to give them a sunken appearance. Add a pair of white pants and a loose white shirt to finish off your costume. The most important accessory of this costume is your hitching thumb. Consider adding a plastic prop chain around your wrist for added effect. Spray paint the plastic chain with white spray paint so that it matches the rest of your costume.

Shark Victim
This is a simple costume that requires only a white T-shirt and jeans. Begin by cutting holes into the white t-shirt across one side of the shirt. Cut them close together, arching them in the shape of a bite mark. Once the holes have been cut, paint around the edges with red fabric paint. This will give the appearance that a shark attempted to take a bite out of you. If you want to give the appearance that an epic battle occurred between you and the shark with you as the victor, sculpt a shark's tooth from white polymer clay and hang it around your neck.
