Overview
There are any number of occasions when hanging out the "No Boys Allowed" sign is considered part of the fun. From bachelorette parties to baby showers, men are frequently excluded from female festivities. However, you don't need a life-altering event to spend an evening with the girls. The next time a weekend of nothing to do is headed your way, use one of these suggestions to draw all the girls together.
-
Diva Party
Tailor the guest list to leave out anyone who won't appreciate a limo ride downtown and a night of seeing and being seen. Instruct guests to dress in their best and get the festivities started with a few warm-up drinks at your place. Serve cosmopolitans or pink martinis made from cranberry juice and vodka. When your limousine arrives, head out for an evening of club-crawling and dancing the night away. If the disco isn't quite your scene, consider making the rounds of the local karaoke bars and belting out a few duets with your friends or attending a concert en masse.
-
Pampering Party
Even the most rough and tumble of tomboys will enjoy a party dedicated to indulgence. Hire a manicurist, pedicurist and massage therapist for the evening and turn your home into a mini-spa. If the budget allows, you could even bring in a couple of beauticians and give everyone a new hairdo and makeover. If you don't have the room to host an event quite this elaborate, check with the local spa to see if it offers a group rate or package discounts and treat your girlfriends to a day of pampering.
-
Hobby Party
Everyone who attends gains something from a party that focuses on a hobby. Have your girlfriends either indulge in a favorite pastime or bond with friends while acquiring new skills. Call your girlfriends together for a night of bowling, skating or scrapbooking. Alternatively, hire a professional to give everyone a lesson in painting, flower arrangements, international cooking or cake decorating.

Experts Party
Similar to the hobby party, many people host small classes and workshops in their home as a social event. For girls-only groups you may consider hosting a class on strip aerobics, photography or belly dancing. If your crowd tends to walk on the wilder side, consider hiring a psychic and spend the evening having your fortunes told, reading palms and dealing tarot cards.
As long as the topic is appealing, the girls are bound to enjoy it. Just be sure to specify the intended activity in the invitation. Many people will stretch beyond their normal boundaries for an evening's entertainment, but not every idea is appealing to everyone. If the planned activity is going to rub someone the wrong way, she's better off not attending the party.
