Gift Ideas for Men's Birthdays

by Monica J. Miller
  • If the man in your life has a birthday coming up, you may be looking for unique masculine gifts. When thinking of gift ideas for men, try to think outside of the "men's birthday gifts" box. Think beyond the traditional neckties and power drills and give your husband, boyfriend or male friend a creative men's birthday gift he will truly love and appreciate.
  • Bath Bag

Men enjoy long, hot bubble baths just as much as women. Give your man everything he needs for a pleasant and relaxing bath experience. Fill a small mesh laundry bag with bath items such as a long-handled back scrubber, loofah sponge, masculine-scented bath gel, shaving cream, razors, inflatable tub pillow, fluffy bath towel, washcloth and bubble bath liquid.

  • Recipe Box

While your man may or may not enjoy cooking, there will inevitably be times when he must cook for himself. Help him out a little with a recipe box filled with easy meal recipes. Search online recipe sites and cookbooks for ideas for simple recipes. Add a personalized spin to each recipe (for instance, omit onions if your man hates onions or add mushrooms if he loves mushrooms) and print on index cards. Put the recipe cards in an organizer recipe box for a handy birthday gift.
  • Personalized Bookends

With a few inexpensive supplies from your local craft store you can make your man a nice set of personalized bookends. Purchase four 6-inch-by-6-inch wood boards (½-inch thick), wood glue, glossy interior paint and two wooden letters (approximately 4 inches square) representing his initials. Place two of the wood boards together at a right angle to form an L shape. Glue together. Glue one of the initials to the horizontal board at the bottom of the letter and the vertical board at the side. Repeat with the other boards and letter. Allow the glue to dry and then paint.
  • Unique Remote Holder

If your man loves watching television but hates losing the remote control, give him a homemade remote control holder. Good Housekeeping magazine's website shares a cute idea for turning an ordinary throw pillow into a unique remote control holder. For this project, all you need are the cover from a throw pillow, iron-on fusible webbing and a jeans pocket (see References for full instructions). When you are finished, you will have a fun and functional gift to give to your man for his birthday.
