Overview
Unless you are in the medical profession, you probably never had to gather information about lice---until you or a family member contracts it. But the moment you find a louse or nit on your body or your child's, locating information on lice suddenly becomes top priority. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, lice are parasites. The thought of having blood-sucking parasitic insects crawling over your scalp or body is enough to make your skin crawl. But try to relax; there is information available about lice and how to get rid of them.

Instructions for Gathering Information about Lice
-
Step 1
Call your family doctor or pediatrician. Let your doctor or nurse know that you or your child has lice. Ask for advice and whether you need to make an appointment to confirm lice infestation.

Step 2
Call the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at 1-800-CDC-INFO (1-800-232-4636). After a brief recorded statement, you will be asked to remain on the line for a representative.
